The first draw of 2023 was held on January 11. This was pleasant news after a long six-week pause after the last draw of 2022 on November 23. The draw of January 23, 2023, saw 5,500 candidates invited. Minimum score requirement was a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of 507.
Following this, was more good news on January 18 with a draw of CRS score of 490. This draw came as a surprise as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) very seldom issues invitations to apply (ITA) to candidates in consecutive weeks.
On February 1, 2023, IRCC held its first Provincial Nominee Program draw through the Express Entry system. This was the first of its kind since June 2022. 893 ITAs were issued to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 733 or higher.
Candidates who receive a Provincial Nomination automatically receive additional 600 CRS points. The program is designed for applicants who have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory. Each province and territory has its own “streams” under which potential applicants may apply.
